Morning Meeting

In a caring community of learners, everyone feels....
I belong here.
I am safe.
I matter, and everyone else in the group matters too.
When we have problems we can work them out.
Together we can do great things.

We begin our kindergarten day with a Morning Meeting.

Morning Meeting consists of four parts:

Greeting

Sharing

Activity

Morning Message

The Morning Meeting time:

1. Builds community by helping students feel a
sense of significance, belonging, and engagement.

2. Gives students daily practice in the social skills
needed for academic learning throughout the day.

3.Creates a climate of trust and respect which
enables children to feel safe enough to take the risks necessary for
learning.

4. Builds positive relationships between students
and between teachers and students by helping them get to
know one another and develop their capacity for empathy.
